Medical Director - Advisory Committee on Clinical Impact Awards

The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care is looking to appoint a Medical Director to assist and support the Chair of the Advisory Committee on Clinical Impact Awards (ACCIA).

ACCIA is an independent advisory non-departmental public body responsible for managing the National Clinical Impact Awards (NCIA) scheme in England and Wales.  The NCIA recognises and rewards consultant doctors and dentists, and academic general practitioners who demonstrate national clinical impact over and above the expectations of their role.

Applicants must hold or have held NHS employment as a senior medical or dental clinician or academic general practitioner. You do not need to hold a licence to practice, however you must be registered with either the General Medical Council or the General Dental Council.

You will have the ability to be objective and innovative, with sound judgement and attention to detail, and have a proven track record of effective negotiating skills.  You will be able to secure the confidence of people who work in the field and use the NHS; and demonstrate an appreciation of the ways in which developments in national policy influence the operation of a scheme to recognise and reward consultants.

Although not essential for this role, holding a national clinical excellence or impact award is desirable.

Remuneration will be £52,540 per annum for a time commitment of, on average, two days per week.  The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care determines the length of appointment, which may be for up to a maximum of 3 years.
